Speaking at this event:

In this masterclass, Mohan Sai Dutt Alla explores how artificial intelligence has fundamentally altered the speed, scale, and impact of political disinformation, often outpacing the capacity of democratic institutions to respond in real time.

Drawing on field experience from India, one of the world’s largest, most diverse, and most digitally saturated democracies, the session examines how AI-generated misinformation, deep fakes, and hyper-local narrative manipulation can trigger irreversible social, electoral, and governance consequences before the state can intervene.

The discussion moves beyond platform regulation and fact-checking to analyse the deeper structural mismatch between AI-driven information warfare and state-centric democratic systems. It highlights why traditional legal, regulatory, and institutional responses struggle in multilingual, emotionally charged, and decentralised information ecosystems, and what this means for democracies globally.

Participants will gain insights into how political technologists, campaigns, and public institutions must rethink trust, speed, and decentralised response architectures shifting from reactive moderation to proactive information resilience. The session positions India not as an exception, but as a preview of the challenges every democracy will soon face in an AI-accelerated political landscape.
