Defending Democracy by Design: Digital Tools for Protecting Election & Information Integrity
18:30
Groundwork
As elections are increasingly targeted through coordinated disinformation, platform abuse, opaque campaign financing and AI-enabled influence operations, safeguarding integrity now depends on robust digital monitoring and response capabilities.
In this hands-on workshop, Jordan Ricker (opsci.ai), Septimius Parvu (Expert Forum) and Adam Busuleanu (European Platform for Democratic Elections) focus on the digital tools being developed and deployed to detect, analyse, and counter threats to election and information integrity—from OSINT platforms and network analysis to early-warning systems and real-time dashboards used in election observation and civil society monitoring.
Using concrete case examples, participants will explore how these tools work in practice, how they integrate with institutional processes, and how insights can be translated into timely, proportionate responses. The session culminates in a practical exercise where participants apply these tools to a simulated election scenario, leaving with a clearer understanding of the current tech stack for democratic defence and its limits.
