Defending Democracy by Design: Digital Tools for Protecting Election & Information Integrity
Groundwork
As elections are increasingly targeted through coordinated disinformation, platform abuse, and AI-enabled influence operations, safeguarding integrity now depends on robust digital monitoring and response capabilities.
In this hands-on workshop, Justin Poncet (opsci.ai) and Adam Busuleanu (European Platform for Democratic Elections) focus on the digital tools being developed and deployed to detect, analyse, and counter threats to election and information integrity—from OSINT platforms and network analysis to early-warning systems and real-time dashboards used in election observation and civil society monitoring.
Using concrete case examples, participants will explore how these tools work in practice, how they integrate with institutional processes, and how insights can be translated into timely, proportionate responses.
