Lena Sophie

Lena‑Sophie is a German digital policy leader and CEO of Initiative D21 e.V., Germany’s largest non‑profit network for the digital society. She has led the organisation since 2014, focusing on the societal implications of digitalisation and promoting inclusive, future‑oriented digital policy. Before joining D21, Müller worked as a researcher at Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS (2008–2013), leading e‑government and interoperability projects across EU, federal, state, and local levels. She holds a degree in political science from the University of Sydney and the University of Potsdam. Lena-Sophie is a frequent speaker and expert on digital transformation and has served in advisory roles including the German Bundestag’s Enquete Commission on Artificial Intelligence, the Digital Council of the Federal Ministry of Defence, and the Beirat Junge Digitale Wirtschaft, advising the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs.
