Schulze
Matthias Schulze is a cybersecurity expert with extensive experience in cyber-security research and strategic threat analysis. As the lead of the Research Focus International Cybersecurity at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg (IFSH), he specializes in the strategic use of cyber capabilities and emerging technologies in international relations, including cyber warfare, cyber espionage, information operations/disinformation, and cybercrime. He covers the cybersecurity policies and strategies of key cyber powers such as the USA, EU, Russia, China, and North Korea. Matthias actively contributes to national and international discussions and working groups on cybersecurity. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and hosts the percepticon.de Podcast, which explores critical cybersecurity topics. His insights have been featured in prominent media outlets, including The Economist, Deutsche Welle, and der Spiegel. Previously, Matthias served as a researcher and deputy head of research at the security division of Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) and was a lecturer at Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena. He holds a Ph.D. with magna cum laude and a Magister Degree in political science, sociology, and philosophy from the same university. Additionally, he is a certified Cyber Security Analyst and self-taught hacker, uniquely combining academic insights with practical IT security skills.
