Tim Polzehl is an AI innovator, researcher and entrepreneur, driving cutting-edge research at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Berlin and beyond. With a PhD on AI in automatic personality prediction from speech and user data, Tim has built a career at the intersection of AI, machine learning, speech technology, and human-centered AI. He has led high-impact projects across Europe with EIT Digital, launched the spin-off platform Crowdee in 2014, completed an elite Software Campus leadership program alongside industry leaders such as SAP, Siemens, and Bosch. At DFKI, he leads the Speech and Multimodal Group. His research tackles today’s most pressing challenges: anonymizing sensitive voice data, detecting disinformation and deepfakes, developing voice-cloning countermeasures, and applying large language models to autonomous AI agents. Very recently in 2024, Tim founded Gretchen AI, an award-winning spin-off advancing deepfake detection with integrated fact-checking and contextual intelligence. Passionate about trustworthy AI, Tim combines academic excellence with entrepreneurial drive to shape the future of secure, human-aligned technology.
