Wieland is the Vice President of Engineering and Site Lead for the Google development center in Munich, Germany. In this role, he leads teams focused on privacy, data security, and digital sovereignty initiatives for global products like the Chrome browser and Google Account features, including the GSEC (Google Safety Engineering Center). Before his tenure at Google, Holfelder worked for over a decade in Silicon Valley, notably as VP and CTO of Mercedes-Benz Research and Technology North America, and today he remains an active voice in the German tech landscape through various supervisory and advisory board memberships, including with acatech, the DFKI, and the Deutsches Museum.
