Security and Safety in Political Tech: Threats, Defence and Platform Responsibility
18:30
Masterclass
PRE-REGISTRATION ONLY: https://hub.partisan.community/p/masterclasses
Political engagement continues to rise amongst users of online platforms. And concerns are shifting away from simply whether platforms are keeping users and campaigns safe and secure, but to how platforms can demonstrate how they are doing so. This session will hear from first-hand experience at TikTok as a platform that must secure both its user experience and address any vulnerabilities it faces as a platform.
This will include TikTok's efforts to engage its users in understanding how the rules of its community are enforced, and how the company engages third parties to scrutinise and validate the platform's security and integrity. Participants will also hear about the latest European cybersecurity rules which apply to tech platforms, how these rules can stimulate a European security community amongst political tech stakeholders, and why transparency in security and integrity efforts can identify wider risks and build overall trust.
